    Duckling and Lamb Class

Our EYFS classes are Duckling Class, taught by Mrs Shuttleworth and Mrs Kimmins, and Lamb Class, taught by Mrs Gibbon.

In the Early Years Foundation Stage at North Petherton, we provide a nurturing and engaging environment where children develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning through play-based and structured experiences.

Learning is carefully planned around topics such as All About Me, celebrations and festivals, seasons, life cycles, and the wider world. Children develop early skills in communication, reading, writing, and mathematics through stories, discussion, practical activities, and exploration. Forest School, welly walks, visits, and hands-on experiences further enrich learning and support curiosity about the world around them.

A strong focus is placed on personal, social, and emotional development, helping children build friendships, understand feelings, and become confident members of the school community. Opportunities for creative expression, physical development, and early problem-solving are woven throughout the curriculum to support each child’s growth.

Our EYFS curriculum ensures children are well prepared for a successful transition into Year 1.
