British Values

British Values at North Petherton Primary School

As a school, we have a duty to 'actively promote' the fundamental British values.

British values are:

  • Democracy
  • The Rule of Law
  • Individual Liberty
  • Mutual respect
  • Tolerance of those with different, faiths and beliefs

At North Petherton Community Primary School, we ensure the fundamental British Values are taught through our PSHE scheme, scarf and through No Outsiders assemblies and follow up work in class.

All curriculum areas provide a vehicle for furthering understanding of these concepts and in particular, RE, PSHE and assemblies provide opportunities to deepen and develop understanding.

We encourage our children to be creative, unique, open minded and independent individuals who are respectful of themselves and of others so they can grow into safe, caring, democratic, responsible, and tolerant adults who make a positive difference to British society and to the world.
