Year 2

Frog and Fox Class

Our Year 2 classes are Frog Class, taught by Mr Bell and Fox Class, taught by Miss Baxter and Mrs Morris.

In Year 2 at North Petherton, children continue to build on their key skills while becoming more independent and reflective learners.

In English, pupils explore a range of engaging texts, including stories, poetry, and non-fiction, using these to develop their own writing. In mathematics, children deepen their understanding of number, calculation, and problem-solving, alongside learning about measures, time, statistics, and position.

Across the wider curriculum, learning is enriched through topics such as habitats, plants, significant historical events, and contrasting locations around the world. Children also explore important themes such as how lives have changed over time and key achievements in history.

Creative subjects, including art, design and technology, music, and physical education, provide opportunities for children to develop creativity, teamwork, and resilience.

Personal development is a continued focus, supporting children to understand relationships, respect differences, and take responsibility for their own wellbeing and actions.
