Today you will be planning a non-fiction text of your own. Choose a topic you love (examples in the workbook at the bottom of page 11) and use page 12 to guide you in planning a non-fiction text. Then think about who you will be writing for, it can be anyone you like!

We will write our text on Monday so get as much information as you can in your plan today and keep it safe for next week!

Today I want you to write a review about the non-fiction text you read for your work yesterday. Write responses to the questions at the top of page 11 in the workbook. Then complete a review of the book/web-page in purple mash – you have been set a To-Do on there. After that, I would like you to complete the Glossary To-Do in purple mash: create a glossary of new words you have learnt from this text.

Be specific with what you liked/disliked. For example: I liked the labels on the pictures but I disliked the lack of description in the writing.

Where has your food come from?

Have a look at the labels on 5 different types of food in your house. Where did they come from? Which place in UK or which country in the World? Which has travelled the furthest?

Or think about your favourite dish you chose yesterday-what ingredients were in it. Where did they come from?

Today you will be finding key features of non-fiction texts. I want you to look at the writing about rainbows and find the features detailed on page 9 of the booklet. Then, you will need to do this for another non-fiction text that you can choose! This can be one given in the booklet or from a non-fiction book you have at home. You can use the structure on page 10 as a guide.

Send me some of your interesting facts via email on purple mash!

We looked at non-chronological reports in school! Can you tell your adult what we wrote about?

This week we will be looking at rainbows! We will be using this booklet to help us with our work: https://www.talk4writing.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Y2-Rainbows.pdf

Today, I want you to work from page 4-7. Talk about what you already know about rainbows and write your ideas down on a spare piece of paper (the booklet can help you organise your ideas). Then read the information text to find out a bit more about them. After that, I want you to go back to the notes you made before and add any information you have now learnt about rainbows.

Remember to use your phonics to help you read the text but your adult can help if you get stuck.
