Welcome to the

Spring Term

in Otter Class!

This term we will become inspiring inventors creating our own cracking contraptions and learn how sound and electricity travel.

We will also explore We the Curious to find out about great inventions that have shaped our world.

Day two of our child led teaching and we learnt about the planets and dinosaurs, made willow bands, created stop motion animation, learnt how to throw and kick rugby balls accurately and shot hoops in basketball. Well done teachers!

Today, the children of Otter Class took over the job of teaching and did a fabulous job of it. Lots of fun, creativity and great learning took place. Well done to all our new teachers!

We took part in a skipping workshop and learnt how to skip forwards and backwards. We got pretty good at it!

We were visited by the Dogs Trust who taught us how to stay safe around dogs and care for them properly.

We really enjoyed watching Snow White and playing different games as part of fundraising for Children in Need.

We finished our Hinduism topic with a day of fun activities including creating a class Rangoli pattern and designing henna hand patterns and Diwali posters

The early Anglo Saxons used a Runic alphabet. We had a go at making pendants using this alphabet to inscribe our initials.

For National Poetry Day, we had a poetry slam and really enjoyed performing in front of the rest of the class.

We have been learning about Ango-Saxon lifestyles and decided to have a go at making our own models of a typical Anglo-Saxon hillfort and houses. We realised that it wouldn’t have been easy for them to build structures strong enough to withstand enemy attacks and bad weather!

We are learning the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. We had a go at re-enacting the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
