20th April 2020

Dear parent

We hope you have enjoyed some family time in the lovely, warm weather and that you are well. The sunshine makes it easier to manage this situation, but it remains very challenging for everyone. Teachers will ‘phone every child in their class at some point over the next 3 weeks to see how they are.

It is still not clear when schools will be reopening. We will continue to provide daily activities for the children to complete. On each class page, there will be an English, maths and ‘other’ challenge. As well as these tasks, there will also be a whole school project with different activities for children to do saved in the project folder. The project for 20th April – 1st May is called ‘The Area That You Live in’. Teachers will continue to communicate through e-mail on Purplemash.

We know that many of you would like new reading books for your children. Unfortunately, we cannot see a safe way of organising this. If you have any problems with accessing the recommended E-Books then please contact the school.

Continue to look at Children - Home Learning resources https://www.northpethertonprimary.co.uk/home-learning-resources/

You will find activities for a variety of ages that don’t need technology as well as online resources that are available. This is updated daily.

Bitesize Daily – From today, Monday 20th April, the BBC is launching its own education package across TV and online, featuring celebrities and some super teachers – helping to keep children learning and supporting parents.

This is alongside new guidance from the Government published (Sunday 19th April) for parents on how best to support their child’s education and development.

In saying this, everything we set is optional. There are some great ideas on social media, but we fully understand that you will probably be juggling children, working at home, managing a house and more… Some days you will be able to get the paint out, bake a cake and then do a science experiment! On other days… a film, some colouring and Lego is more realistic. We are doing our best and we know that you are too.

Stay safe and have fun!

From all the staff
