Safeguarding and Public Health England advice

Safeguarding is paramount to North Petherton School and like other schools across the UK we are closely following Public Health England’s advice.

National guidance from Public Health England has reassured us that if you have travelled from mainland China in the last 14 days (excluding Wuhan or Hubei Province) there is no need for any child to be isolated or excluded from school.

You should only take action if a person starts to show symptoms of cough, fever, or shortness of breath.

If this happens you should stay indoors, avoid contact with others and contact 111.

  • If you have travelled from Wuhan City or Hubei Province in the last 14 days, however, you should self-isolate and exclude from school even if asymptomatic.
  • If you then become symptomatic, stay at home, avoid contact with others and contact 111.
