14th May 2020
I hope you are well and keeping safe.
On the 11th May the Government set out a number of guidelines relating to the wider opening of schools. As from the 1st June, primary schools have been asked to consider welcoming back children in Foundation , Year 1 and Year 6, alongside priority groups ( eg the children of key workers). The government also said
‘We will only do this provided that the five key tests set by government justify the changes at the time, including that the rate of infection is decreasing and the enabling programmes set out in the Roadmap are operating effectively. As a result we are asking schools, colleges and childcare providers to plan on this basis, ahead of confirmation that these tests are met’
I would like to reassure you that any potential phased return has to be managed with extreme caution and care, so that all necessary protective measures can be put in place for the children and staff.
If you have a child in Lamb, Duckling, Butterfly, Bumblebee, Lion or Leopard Classes, I would like to know if you would be willing to send your child to school. Please complete the very short questionnaire, via the appropriate link below, by midday on Friday 15th May (one form per child please).
Lamb & Duckling:Questionnaire Lamb & Duckling
Butterfly & Bumblebee: Questionnaire Butterfly & Bumblebee
Lion & Leopard: Questionnaire Lion & Leopard
The form should open on a laptop or PC. If you are using a mobile device you may need to sign into your Microsoft account first. If you have any issues completing the survey then please email your response to the following address.
Over the coming days we will use this information, alongside the latest Government and local authority advice, to prepare a detailed plan for the possible partial re-opening of school. Everything will depend the outcome of the risk assessments that we are making for safety of all children, staff and parents
I believe that we all share comparable thoughts and concerns. In saying this, it is crucial that everyone has the opportunity to ask questions and we want to make sure that every voice is heard. This situation is not like anything we have experienced before. We have set up an additional email askNP251@educ.somerset.gov.uk . Please use this email as a way of asking questions. We will collate the questions, answer them and share this information with all parents.
Thank you for everything you are doing at home to support your family at this very challenging time.
