Kestrel Class Y5

Welcome to Kestrel class 2019-2020.

This is going to be a very exciting year and this page will show many highlights of our learning adventures.

Science Homework

w/c 20/1/2020

Year 5 have decided that they would like to complete a homework about Space. This links with our learning this half term.

You can present your work any way that you would like. For example, you could make a planet, or complete a fact file, or build a model using Lego, or make a PowerPoint – the choice is yours!

We can’t wait to see the results.

Maths - Lawrence kindly took a day off work to come and teach the years 5 and 6 maths. He is an aeroplane engineer, who has designed a battery powered helicopter. Lawrence explained how the maths we learn in school, is used in real life.

R.E - Rev Jane came in to answer children’s questions about what it’s like to have a belief.

This year I have bought the class new toys for their wet play cupboard. After talking to the class, they wanted something that would not cause unnecessary waste. The toys they have they will also take to Year 6.

Science homework

Week commencing 13/01/20

We are very excited to be learning about Earth and Space for our new Science topic. We have been trying to learn the order of the planets by thinking about fun ways to remember them. Can you think of a mnemonic at home together? The sillier the better!

Here is one to get you started...

A festive homework

Week commencing 2/12/19

We would like to get into the festive spirit this week in year 5 for the run up to Christmas. Please could you make a decoration to bring into the classroom. It can be as simple or as extravagant as you want. Enjoy being creative this week!

Science Homework

Week commencing 25/11/19

Over the last few weeks we have had so much fun completing lots of different science experiments linking to our materials and their properties topic. If you would like to replicate any of these experiments at home or if you can think of some other ways to investigate materials please do so. Any pictures of you being super scientists would be very well received.

Happy experimenting!

Homework for week commencing 18.11.19

Please can your child talk for 10 minutes about the Snow White production that we saw on Friday. Please ask them what a protagonist means.

Maths homework

(11.11.19)

This week, we would like you to look for maths examples where you live. This could be, for example, a bus timetable or shapes on buildings. Please talk to your parent/carer about what you have found. If you would like to take any photos and email them through to the school office, then please do so.

Topic homework

This week we are continuing with our Tudor topic. Could you tell someone who is looking after you all about the Battle of Bosworth?

We very much look forward to hearing how much your adult enjoyed this!

Please have a look through the Spring term curriculum newsletter to find out about our exciting term ahead...
