This week in Year 1 we have introduced our ‘Discover and Do’ challenges. The children have been set six tasks to complete across the week in amongst their other learning. We have been so pleased to see the children approach these various challenges with enthusiasm and enjoy collecting their sticker for each task completed.
We are particularly proud of those children who worked really hard to complete all six challenges in this first week. These children are Roux, Leo, Ava, Eva, George P, Gabriella, Max and Hattie. A few other children came very close, only missing out on one spot for their creative job because it was too windy outside today. Well done to George M, Franklin, Jacob and Jack.
We’ve had another fun filled week of learning in Butterfly Class. The children are thriving in a provision based environment, completing challenges and showing us how their understanding in growing. I have been amazed by the children’s ability to represent numbers, their knowledge of number bonds and their enthusiasm to support their peers with their learning.
We have been looking at the Oliver Jeffers book ‘Here we are’ as a focus text, going in a journey around the world and describing and drawing different landmarks.
The children have build and labelled houses in the construction area and created repeating patterns in the fine motor skills space.
It was another tricky choice for our PicCollage photos this week!!
Well done Butterfly Class.

We have had so much fun this week. I am so proud of how well the children have come into school and explored and made new discoveries in their learning.
Please bear with us at home time, we are still becoming familiar with which child belongs to which parent. As we continue to send the children out from a line please keep an eye out for your child coming to the front of the line and give us a wave.
Thank you for your continued support and patience!
