KS2 FRENCH HOME LEARNING – SUMMER 2 WEEK 5
Bonjour! Comment ça va? I hope you are all safe and well.
Sunday 21st June was of course the day of the Summer Solstice and also, in France and in many other countries, “Make Music Day” (“la Fête de la Musique”). To celebrate this occasion (a little bit late…), I have put together a playlist of French songs that I would like you to listen to on YouTube. We listened to some of them last week with the Year 4 & 5 children who are in school, and they really liked them so I hope you will enjoy them too! Why not send me an email on Purple Mash to let me know which one is your favourite?
On écrit sur les murs (Kids United)
Le Lion est mort ce soir (Kids United Nouvelle Génération)
Pour changer le monde (Kids United Nouvelle Génération)
Emmène-moi (Boulevard des Airs feat. L.E.J)

Bonjour! I hope that you are all well and safe, and ready to join in some fun French activities! This week I would like you to continue working on the topic of pet descriptions. This time, I would like you to have a go at checking your French comprehension by watching this video (and reading the script if it helps): KS2 / Languages / French – En Famille / Les animaux domestiques / Superdog
What makes Partex a Superdog? Now think of your Pet Therapy dogs. Are they Superdogs? What makes them special? Can you write a short paragraph about one of them in French, using your new vocabulary? |
Remember to take a picture of your work and email it to me using @2email on Purple Mash. |

Bonjour! I hope that you are all well and safe, and ready to join in some fun French activities! This week I would like you to continue working on the topic of pet descriptions. Please watch this video again if you need a recap: KS2 / Languages / French – En Famille / Les animaux domestiques / Describing Pets
For your task this week I would like you to have a go at writing a pet description in paragraph form (a little bit like when you wrote about your pencil-cases) ALL IN FRENCH! You can write about your own pet or someone else’s. Then add a photograph or a drawing of the animal to illustrate your work. Look at my model for inspiration. |
Remember to take a picture of your work and share it with me via PurpleMash email. |

Bonjour! I hope that you enjoyed the lovely weather over half-term and that you are all well and safe, and ready to join in some fun French activities! This week I would like you to watch this video again to remember how we describe pets in French: KS2 / Languages / French – En Famille / Les animaux domestiques / Describing Pets Then, I would like you to have a go at designing a pet passport. Think of your own pet or a friend’s pet, and imagine you are going to take them on holiday abroad one day. What information should appear on the pet’s passport? Use your French vocabulary to enter as many details as possible, and remember to include a picture of your pet! |
If you have a real pet passport at home, take a close look at it for inspiration. If you haven’t, use your imagination! Remember to take a picture of your work and share it with me via PurpleMash @2email |

Please watch the relevant videos on Espresso again. You will find them by following this path: KS2 / Languages / French – En Famille / Les animaux domestiques Then copy the list of words from the script of the “Meet the Pets” video, RE-ARRANGING THEM IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER. Add a drawing or a photograph of each animal so this list becomes your word reference. |
If you have a pet yourself and it’s not in the list, look up the French word for it and insert that word in the correct place in your alphabetical list. Remember to send me pictures of your work via Purplemash @2email. |

I hope that you are all well and safe, and ready to join in some fun French activities! This week I would like you to continue practising your “Family” vocabulary by watching the following video on BBC Teach “Virtually There”: After watching the clip a few times, draw the family photograph that Ben captures at the end and create a label for each member of the group shot, including all the information you have understood about them. |
If you would like to practise your French writing, why not have a go at this filling in the blanks in this paragraph: “Bonjour! Je m’appelle _____. J’ai ______ ans. J’habite à _______. Je vous présente ma ________. Mon _______ s’appelle Eric et ma ______ s’appelle Vanessa. J’ai trois _______ mais je n’ai pas de ______. J’ai deux ______ et un _______. Mon ___________ et ma _________ sont très gentils.” |

During the Easter break, why not research French Easter traditions? What do French children do at Easter that is the same as or different from what we do in the UK? You could write a paragraph about what you have found out and illustrate it, or you could look up the French words for “Easter”, “chocolate”, “eggs”, “springtime”, etc… and create an illustrated word mat. |
If you have family in a country other than France, you could draw a picture / write a paragraph about how they celebrate Easter over there. What is Easter called in other languages?
Remember you can always take pictures of your work and email them to me on Purple Mash.
Stay safe and keep everyone safe!
