Learning Offer

North Petherton Primary School

January 2021

We have been working hard to develop home learning opportunities for the children during lockdown. Teaching staff will be working their usual hours either based at school or at home (this is due to a poor internet connection at school and to minimise the number of adults in school at any one time). In school, children and staff will remain in their year group bubble.

The poor internet connection in school is an ongoing issue. As you know we managed to secure a Government grant for ‘fibre to the exchange’ last June. We are still waiting for the starting date to be confirmed.

Our aim

  • High quality learning experiences both at home and school.
  • A focus on outcomes and not tasks.
  • Children to have contact with class teachers (through a combination of live chat, emails and/or telephone calls) to set expectations, motivate, engage and ensure everyone knows what they are doing!
  • Feedback provided to children on the work produced.
  • Pastoral care to support mental health and well-being.
  • Activities and tasks will include a mixture of written and computer-based tasks.

Teachers, from each year group, will be working together to support children in both classes, including teaching the children in school and supporting the children who are at home.

To enable teachers to upload lessons for the next day they will not have time to respond to emails after 4pm. They will respond the following day.
