And then we made our own volcanoes, adding our own special lava mix that got very bubbly when vinegar was added...

This week we've been making and testing out Maths board games...

The children were given the challenge of finding out about Stonehenge and creating a project to share with the class. Their response was fantastic - there were models, fact files, displays, PowerPoints, videos and booklets. They were proud to show off their work to their buddy class, Mr Hobbs and Mr Turner. Well done all of you!

Both Year 3 classes performed Egyptian themed dances at the Primary Dance Festival at the Tacchi Morris Centre. Everyone worked so hard to practise the dances and get it just right. They did the school and themselves extremely proud. Well done everyone!

Everyone had their own job, creating Scratchcards and Shrinkies, organising the finances, advertising the products and managing the teams. And what an awesome teams we were. It was a fantastic experience for everyone and we even made a profit!

Year 3 children have been challenged to produce a Stonehenge project to wow the school with. It can be a model, a leaflet, a poster, a story, a PowerPoint fact file, whatever takes their imagination!

The deadline for this is Friday 23rd June.

Welcome to the Summer Term in Hare Class!

This term are learning about Stone Age through to the Iron Age.

We are finding out how our ancestors and the earliest settlers in Britain lived, what they ate and how they made tools and homes for themselves. We will create our own play scripts, write stories of our first hunts with our tribes, and we will even barter for food and resources with other tribes. Follow our adventures on this page.

PE this term will be on Mondays and Thursdays and so kits need to be in school all week please. We will be rehearsing a dance to perform in June as part of the Primary Dance Festival in June.

We have worked really hard to write exciting and dramatic stories about our first hunting experiences in the Stone Age. Today we shared these stories around the campfire and enjoyed very messy marshmallows!

We had fun experimenting with seed dispersal using our very own polystyrene seeds.

Rehearsals are going well for the dance festival. Here's a sneak preview of our class dance. There will be a performance in the school for parents once we have completed and perfected it - watch this space for more details!

Please take time to read the summer newsletter to find out what we are doing this term

We had great fun with books for World Book Day. We started by creating signs for our book corner to faraway story worlds.

We loved sharing books with Lion Class.

And we did some extreme reading. See where our imaginations took us!

We have been investigating what good instructions look like. We tried making paper aeroplanes, loom band bracelets and word documents, as well as sending messages using Morse code and semaphore. We're ready now to start writing our own instructions to mummify a pharaoh. Maybe a little more complicated than a paper aeroplane, but we're ready for anything!

Take a look at the amazing Ancient Egyptian projects we brought in. A lot of hard work and imagination can deliver fantastic results!

After finishing our free verse, based on Howard Carter's discovery of King Tut's tomb, we shared our poetry with Hedgehog class.

We had a fantastic time at our Year 3 Sports Festival at Robert Blake. All the children showed great sportsmanship, skill and perseverance. And we all had a great time!

We have been finding out about Howard Carter and his discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in The Valley of the Kings. We created freeze-frames of him discovering the first step, digging away rubble from the passageway and looking through into the tomb to see "Wonderful things."

Spring 2017 Curriulum Newsletter

We finished learning about Hindu culture and beliefs with a Diwali afternoon. Making Rangoli patterns...

Making and painting Diva lamps...

...and we even got to enjoy simply wonderful Indian sweets. It was a lot of fun.

Finding out how cool coding can be!

Sgt. Jay Brown visited year 3 today to tells us about the Royal Marines.

A or An

We have been learning whether to use A or AN in our sentences. The children have created a useful video to help you know which to choose...

Year 3 Sports Festival at Robert Blake Science College. We had a fantastic time learning netball, tag rugby, football, bench ball and basket ball skills alongside other schools. We started off a little cold but soon abandoned our coats and got stuck in. Everyone had a great time!

We have been learning to write rhyming and free verse poetry this term and performed our class poem to the rest of the school.
There are two versions of the poem on here - one is a time lapse version, we accidentally recorded, but is great for a giggle, the other is the final version which we are really proud of. Enjoy!
